A great question / comment I’ve gotten on FB about algae:
I’ve heard algae clogs pores and is not safe for acne, is this true with
Aliven Gele’?
Answer:
Algae extracts deemed as pore-clogging are those that are mucilage, as seaweed in general naturally are.
Our algae is a highly purified fresh water blue algae extract of Dunaleila Salina with a very tiny molecular structure that is ‘water-like and would not be pore clogging at all. With its tiny molecular structure, it is easily absorbed into the skin.
When seaweed and algae are comedogenic it’s primarily when someone has an “iodine allergy” that a problem occurs. If someone has an iodine allergy (unbeknownst to them) and they use products containing seaweed/algae it can cause significant breakouts with pustules, inflammation and deep cyst like lesions at times.
This is why they say if someone has acne to stay away from seaweeds and algae’s. It’s cautionary, not because it will make it worse but if they are “allergic” to iodine (which is high in seaweed and algae) it would definitely make it worse.
The solution is we as Estheticians need to always present the question on our ‘intake form’, “Are you allergic to iodine?”

This is Skin Caring Shari. I have been a Licensed Esthetician since 2002. Micro Current is my specialty and I have owned and operated four different micro current machines as well as LED and the ultrasonic spatula.
Aliven Gele’ was created to fulfill a need for a clean ingredient deck not found in other conducting gels. If you care about infusing only the best ingredients into your clients skin, this gele’ is for you. Our clients have put their trust in us. We must deliver only the safest and highest quality products to them.
This video is assuming your have purchased your Aliven Gele’ Set….. With this being said…..
I’ve gotten many questions about how to make and use the Pink Himalayan Salt Solution that comes with your Aliven Gele’ set.
I’m going to teach you how to make your Pink Himalayan Salt solution that you will be using with your Aliven Gele’. It keeps your Aliven Gele’ moist and slippery while increasing the conductivity of the gele’.
In your set, you received a 2 oz jar of Pink Himalayan Salt Powder (PHSP), a tiny scoop and a spritzing bottle. I chose the powder as it dissolves easily in water and allows for easy spritzing.
TO MAKE PINK HIMALAYAN SALT SOLUTION
- You will use one tiny scoop of the PHSP
- Add it to your spritzing bottle
- Fill with water
- Shake and it’s ready to go.
- DO NOT use more than one tiny scoop of PHSP, as it will burn your clients skin.
TO USE WITH YOUR ALIVEN GELE’
- Take a small bowl
- Add two pumps of Aliven Gele’
- Followed by 6-8 spritzes of PHSP solution
- Stir
- Apply to your clients cleansed skin with a brush
- May be applied over your non oily serums or used alone
- Apply only to the sections of the face you will be working on
If you find their skin begins to get tacky, simply spritz your brush with your PHSP solution and go over that section of skin to recreate “the slip”. You may also spritz more solution into your bowl and apply this to your clients skin to keep slippery.
At the end of your treatment, simply take a warm towel and gently wipe off any excess gele’. Aliven Gele’ does not need to be completely wiped off as it is a nice hydrating serum for use under your moisturizer.
Aliven Gele’ is super hydrating with it’s hyaluronic acid. The Neroli hydrosol base is excellent for all skin types PLUS the aroma is simply lovely and calming to the senses and the mind. The algae extract ( fresh water algae) increases ATP production and makes the skin luminous… Aliven Gele’ is so much more than just a conducting gel. It is alive with nutrition and feeds your clients skin to a healthy glow.
Best to keep Aliven Gele’ in a cool dark space. Refrigeration is highly recommended. The Neroli Hydrosol is sensitive to light and heat and will change color over time. It is still safe to use when and if this occurs.
Feel free to use it as a stand alone hydrating mask, a hydrating serum under moisturizers, and on other parts of the body to add extra hydration to dry skin.
Aliven Gele’ may be used with any equipment needing a conducting gel. Great with micro current, LED, ultrasound, spatula… You get the idea !
