Drinking plain water can be a bit boring… Try infusing it with fresh fruit and herbs !
Staying away from or consuming very little soda and caffeinated beverages is a wise choice. The sugars in soda are unhealthy and can lead to weight gain, acne and diabetes . Carbonation leaches calcium from your bones and caffeine dehydrates your body.
So how about a healthy and delicious alternative?
Fruit and Herb infused water, not only tastes refreshing and delicious but it is also nutritious and hydrating for your precious body and skin.
The Basics:
-
Use large glass bottles or jars with lids to make your infused water. There are pitchers available with inserts specifically for this purpose.
-
Use Organic whenever possible. Visit your local Farmers Market for the freshest!
-
Wash fruits and gently rinse herbs to rid soil residue & chemicals from surface.
-
Avoid any fruits & herbs that are bruised or too ripe, as that will affect the taste.
-
To obtain the nutrients, leave the peel on.
-
Remove the ingredients after about four hours for best results. (You can add fresh ones before serving for attractiveness.)
-
Always cut or slice the ingredients into small, thin pieces so they will break down more quickly. This also allows more flavor to be extracted due to the extra surface space.
-
Crush herbs or roots and tear or crush leaves. This releases their oils.
-
Loose herbs or flowers can be used with a tea infuser or cheesecloth for easy removal later if desired.
Add ingredients into your bottle, jar or pitcher. Fill with cool filtered water. Infuse for two hours at room temperature and then put into your refrigerator. You can infuse ingredients overnight for a full flavor experience.
